You last heard from us in January with an announcement of the recently-formed New York Book Forum, an organization dedicated to bring focus to reading. We were so pleased to hear about your interest in staying up-to-date on our activities, so, we’d like to let you know what is happening behind the scenes!
The board has been meeting monthly to lay the groundwork for upcoming programs and a membership drive. Specifically, we have three programs lined up:
Wednesday, April 21
KYLE ZIMMER
President, CEO, and co-founder of First BookWednesday, June 16
JAY DISKEY
Former executive director of the Association of American Publishers‘ PreK-12 Learning GroupWednesday, August 18
MICHAEL CIRELLI
Former executive director of Urban Word NYC and founder of the National Youth Poet Laureate Program
Additionally, we are delighted to announce that the New York Book Forum plans to produce the next iteration of the New York Book Show on October 12. The format remains under discussion; however, the goal of the Book Show committee is to celebrate the beauty of the printed book if there is any possible way to do so! We hope that by May the committee will have a clearer picture of what can be achieved.
This is a busy, thrilling time at the New York Book Forum. We look forward to staying in touch as new developments unfold.
